Hello everyone. For some years, I've been wondering what became of Evelyn Hill, PI F/A long time domiciled in ATL. She was around for a long time (certified on the DC-3) and flew up into the 1990s. The last time I saw her, she was in CLT about to work a SJU turn and she told me she was getting "too old for this $4!#!"

She had a very unique personality and an unforgettable style.

A few years ago, a former PI F/A told me that she'd heard Evelyn was in a full time care facility near ILM with advanced alzheimers. I surely hope that's not the case.

I'd sincerely appreciate any updates anyone might have about Evelyn. I'd also delight in any stories or remembrances folks had of her. She was a one of a kind.

The following great news from Bob Reed.
Piedmont’s very own flight attendant Carol Fair, will be participating in the North Carolina Azalea Festival this year. Here are the details from Bob along with our congratulations to a great lady – Carol Fair.

Carol still flies US Airways international routes today – some 40+ years flying the friendly skies of Piedmont and US Airways (but who’s counting?)!

Congratulations, Carol!

This is to let you know that our own Carol Fair will be participating in the North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington, NC this year. The festival will be held April 1 - 5. Carol has been invited to participate as a result of her induction into the North Carolina Transportation Hall of Fame this past October. She will be among other celebrities in the three-hour parade that winds through downtown Wilmington Saturday morning. As you know, for many years, Piedmont was either a sponsor or a strong supporter of the Azalea Festival. Congratulations to Carol who continues to carry forth the memory and spirit of Piedmont Airlines.
---------- Forwarded Message ----------
Holiday Greetings to all,

I have been made aware of 2 employment opportunities for pilots over the age of 60. I want to make sure the news gets out to all who might be interested.

First of all, Rishworth is planning another recruiting trip to the US after the holidays. Information will be kept current on www.bigjetcity.com as it arrives. I am waiting now, for a reading on how the new law effects the licensing issue.

Secondly, I received the following info about jobs with Air Astana:

Air Astana require a lot of A320 pilots for the new year due to new aircraft deliveries. They are not recruiting on the B757/767 at this time but if you have any friends that maybe interested please ask them to complete the attached application form and return it to me and I will register their interest should the positions arise again.

One thing to keep in mind for the Airbus and Boeing positions is that Air Astana can accept pilots who have not flown the aircraft for a maximum of 3 years. Anything over that will not be allowed as Air Astana are following JAR regulations. I understand on a FAA ATP a type rating never expires but unfortunately last flight and currency is a major factor in the recruitment of Air Astana.

I look after the recruitment of pilots for Air Astana and Hanna is responsible for pilots when on contract. If any of your colleagues or friends wish to apply please ask them to send a current resume or the attached application completed to myself and I will arrange screening ASAP. If we get a large number of pilots from one area DPI and Air Astana can arrange to travel to the States and hold screening there.

I will publish further info for this on www.bigjetcity.com as well. There is an application, I can forward you if you have an interest. Simply email me.

Lastly, that YTB on-line travel agency extended the "no sign-up" fee through 4:00 today. If you are interested in that :
and click view company presentation---------- do not join without emailing me or you will be charged.

I wish all of you a truly wonderful holiday season and look forward to hearing from you.

Hello:

I am a former Piedmont employee and I had a very good friend that was a flight atendant with Piedmont and later US Airways. She started for Piedmont around 1981. She was based in Atlanta and then Charlotte.

All I know is that she was based in CLT the last time I talked with her and her husband had just passed away from cancer. At that time her name was Debbie or Deborah Lowrey. She was previously married and had the last name of Thompkins or I believe her maiden name was Kimbrough. (I may have the last two backwards as I dont remember which was her maiden name)

Last I had heard she was considering retiring but I have not heard from her in several years and I no longer have a correct email address for her.

If anyone knows where Debbie is, please have her contact me. It would be great to hear from an old friend again.
He later left the company and the last I heard he and his family were living in rio Ranch Estates near Albuquerque, NM, but that was years ago. My wife and I went through that area a couple of years ago and I checked the phone books but did not find his name. I would really like to get in touch with him again.
Hi!

My name is Michael Gold. I'm 17 years old, and I have a hearty interest in the airlines as a result of my father, Fred Gold. Dad still flies for US Airways, he's a captain on the B737-300/400 based in CLT. He was hired by PI in the mid-1980s, right before I was born. I sort of missed out on the actual Piedmont thing, but I was young enough that I caught some of it, and I blame the airline bug that I have on him and his stories of "the good old days". I'm just curious if any of you know him. I think it would mean a lot to him if it turned out that people remember him. I realize that Piedmont was a quite large company in the end, and that of the several thousand pilots, only a fraction use this site, and only a fraction of that fraction could have come into contact with him. He started in the 727s at Smith Reynolds (KINT) in Winston-Salem, NC.

Thanks!

Hi,
I am sure this will sound like a crazy search. I am looking for a US-Airways pilot. He was a Piedmont Airlines Co-Pilot when I met him briefly in November 26, 1981. He was living in and flying out of Norfolk, VA. I was sailing in the merchant marines as third mate on a coal ship.
I have found a man who remembers the man I am looking for, but he doesn’t remember the Co-pilot’s name. He did however remember that he now works for US-Airways. This man is retired so he can’t post this search on the pilot’s board.
I really can't describe him well enough for an I.D. He was in his late 30's in 1981, was in the national guard. At that time his condo in Norfolk was new and he drove a yellow compact car. He was on the Denver - Norfolk flight.
If you know someone who sounds like they would match this description, would you pass the message along that I am looking for them through classmates? He might remember me as the cute blonde, 23 years old, in faded blue jeans, that he meet a Bennigan's at dinner.
I lost the paper with his name and number, but every time I have sailed into Norfolk over the last 22 years I wonder whatever happened to him. There are just some people who affect you that way. When I saw that Classmates had a work place section I decided it was worth a try to get in touch with him again.
Thanks,
