Former AL & PI long time employee, Tommy Durrer, has died of cancer. Tommy was originally hired at AL in 1958 and later worked 30 years for PI in CHO. The following is a series of emails Tommy and his wife, Marian, sent the past couple of months. Thee were several updates on Tommy’s condition but Tommy passed away this past Saturday. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Marian and the family. His buddy, Jim Haney, fellow retired PI employee will speak at his funeral.
On September 8, 2008, I was diagnosed with Terminal Pancreatic Cancer which has already spread to the liver. In addition I have been battling Prostrate Cancer since 2002. The only alternative treatment was a form of chemo, which I have elected not to take, as it would not stop the disease, only perhaps slow it down. Therefore I chose quality over quantity. I am being treated with narcotic's to control the pain, and hospice is assisting with this treatment.
My wife will keep you informed as we continue on this journey.
