Lancaster, KY September 29, 1928 - July 5, 2016 Edwin H. Land, 87, of Dogwood Drive died July 5, 2016 at his home in Lancaster, Kentucky.

Edwin was born September 29, 1928 in Garrard County. He was the son of the late Charlie and Pearl Crutchfield Land. Edwin was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church and Happy Senior Class.

He was retired from Piedmont Airlines and served a term as co- chairman and a term as chairman of the Air Transport Association of America Cargo Claim Committee, Washington, D.C. He was a past President of the Urban Toastmaster League, Winston-Salem, North Carolina and a longtime member of the B.P.O.E. # 449, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Edwin was also a past member of the Grandview Golf and Country Club while residing in North Carolina and a member of Dix River Country Club in Stanford, Kentucky.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Grant Land and two stepsons, Mark Smiley of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Vann Smiley of Pinnacle, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Land, killed in action during World War II and a stepson, Michael Smiley.

Funeral services are 7PM, Friday, July 8, 2016 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Best officiating. Visitation is from 5PM until time of service. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
