Herbert H. Foltz passed away on July 16, 2016 at Salemtowne. He was born February 15, 1924 to Stanley Raymond Foltz and Ada Boyles Foltz in Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Moravian Church and a lifetime resident of Forsyth County.

He served in the United States Navy during Would War II and became a Navy pilot. He was a career pilot with Piedmont Airlines from 1954-1978. In his retirement, he and Anne spent a lot of time at their mountain home in Ashe County. His favorite pastimes were fishing, woodworking and gardening. Herbert was a dedicated lay worker in the Moravian Church serving on the church boards at Trinity and serving in the Southern Province of the Moravian Church on The Provincial Financial Board and the Provincial Elders Conference. Through his work on PEC he also served on the Board of Salemtowne and the Provincial Archives Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Anne Snyder Foltz, his mother and father and his sisters, Erlene Foltz, Hilda Foltz Aldridge and Ruth Foltz Crissman. He is survived by his children, David Foltz, of Winston-Salem, Marilyn Lamm (William) of Mt. Airy, Rev. Carol Foltz of Winston-Salem, and John Foltz of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Dena Cook Moore (Shane) of Winston-Salem, Christopher Lamm (Meredeth) of Asheville, NC and Anne Lamm Crump (Kyle) of Norfolk, Virginia, and his 3 great- grandchildren, Vincent, Stelling, and Stratton.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Trinity Moravian Church, 220 E. Sprague Street with Rev. John Jackman and Rev. Dr. Bill McElveen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service at Salem Moravian Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Moravian Church. Online condolences may be made at
