Captain Milton Browning

PALM BAY, Fla. - Milton Browning, 83, of Palm Bay, Fla., retired captain for Piedmont Airlines, died peacefully Feb. 23, 2002. In 1947, Milt became one of the original 10 pilots when Piedmont Airlines formed in Winston-Salem. He flew Piedmont's first commercial flight on Feb. 20, 1948, and served as captain until 1974. He is survived by his wife, Zelda; daughter, Beth Weaver (Grady); grandchildren, Bent Weaver (Sherry), Shannon, Joyce (Steve) of Clemmons; stepchildren, Pam Baum and Michael Robinette of Palm Bay, Fla., Randy Robinette of Atlanta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Fountainhead Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Hunt officiating. Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, East Center Florida, Chapter 4676, North Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32935.
