Mr. Richard Harris Mahn

Richard Harris Mahn, age 77, of Rocky Point, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Mahn was born May 8, 1926, in Rocky Point and was the son of the late William Morris and Clara Belle Armstrong Mahn. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Jung Mahn; daughter, Barbara Christianson; sisters, Vivian Mahn, Sara Pearl Mahn, Lina Elizabeth Mahn and Will Dee Mahn; and brother, Leonard L. Mahn.

Having served his country in the US Army, Richard was a veteran of WWII. He worked as a customer service agent with Piedmont Airlines and retired after forty years of service. He also was a former member of Long Creek Fire Department.

Surviving are his children, Richard H. Mahn Jr. and wife, Maryanne of Cary, Suzanne Christianson and husband Allan of Newton Grove, Shirlyn Lane and husband Jimmy of Rocky Point, David L. Mahn and wife Donna of Florence, SC, Patrick C. Mahn and wife Laura of Castle Hayne, Joel A. Mahn of Burgaw and Charlotte Mahn of the home; eleven grandchildren including a very special grandson, C. Jefferson Riggs; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Belle Hedrick of Calhoun, GA; and brothers, Morris Dupree Mahn of Wilmington and Louis Thomas Mahn of Beaverton, OR.

Graveside funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery with the John Swafford officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to a charity of one's choice.
