Grace Gurganious Hobbs
Grace Gurganious Hobbs, 75 of Wilmington, NC, died April 8, 2005. She was born May 12, 1929 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Floyd Bryant Gurganious and Blanche Ellen Pigott Gurganious.
Mrs. Hobbs graduated from New Hanover High School in 1946 and attended Wilmington College in 1947. She married Roy Houston Hobbs in 1948. They were married for 57 years.
Grace worked for Boney architects for 30 years as Leslie Boney’s personal assistant. She was a member of the Cape Fear Garden Club, Thursday Morning Music Club, the “Pink Ladies” auxillary at NHMH and was the first president of the local chapter of the North Carolina Symphony. She was actively committed to the church choir at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk where she was an elder.
Mrs. Hobbs is survived by her husband, Roy Houston Hobbs, daughters Melodee Hobbs Wynne and Husband Jim, Leigh Hobbs Murray and Husband Brad and Granddaughter, Olivia Grace Murray, two sisters, Sue Gordon and Nancy Rumple, and one brother, Edward Gurganious.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, Wrightsville Beach.
Family will gather at the residence of the Murrays, 2620 Mayfair Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28403.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, 2-W Fayetteville St., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480.
