Forest Grover Bates
Mr. Forest Grover Bates, 79, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Forsyth County to the late Grover Everette and Thelma Farley Bates. Mr. Bates served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had retired from Piedmont Airlines after 33 years of service in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Carol White Bates of the home; three sons, Forest Kim Bates and wife Jerrie of East Bend, Tony Bates and wife Donna of Winston-Salem and Rick Bates and wife Vickie of Apex; a daughter, Gina Bates Boulton and husband Glenn of Oak Ridge; seven grandchildren, Shannon and Logan Bates, Katie, Maggie and Rob Boulton and Julie and Heather Corn; and a sister, Jean Looper and husband Jerry of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.

As you will remember, Forest was a corporate officer. He was Assistant Controller after serving many years as Director - Accounting.
We will miss him.
