Might anyone have any information on what equipment likely flew the route that would have included AVL - FAY in approximately 1963? While it appears the airline was flying DC-3, 4-0-4 and F-27 aircraft at the time, I'd like to narrow it down more specifically.

I started in INT Maintenance in April 1963. The only DC-3's on the property were being used for charters, none in scheduled service. We had 8 F-27's and about 20 404's when I started.

Sir,

In one of my 1963 PI timetables for the AVL-FAY route you asked about showed the following service and equipment:
AVL to FAY/Ft. Bragg
Three departures. First DPP was at 12:29 ARR FAY at 1421 local time and the flight number was 100 and it and the two other ops were Martin 4-0-4 equipment. This flight was dis continued on 23 Mar and a new departure was Eff 23 Mar. That service was flight 70. It DPP at 1231 local and ARR FAY at 1410 local time.

The other departure was at 2108 local and ARR FAY at 2317 local time. All services had two stops and the 1231 flight had as Snack Service. The fare was a whopping $18.75 one way.

The two stops were: CLT and Southern Pines/Pinehurst/Aberdeen.

Hope this helps.
